Having pets makes a real difference when looking for new flooring. Not only does a floor have to cope with scratches from claws, but it also needs to cope with the occasional accident, spilled food and water. As much as we love our pets, they can be messy! Is vinyl or laminate better for pets?

Also, you may find that some types of flooring come with extra cushioning on each panel or tile, designed for cushioning and soundproofing.

The more texture there is to your flooring, the less likely they are to slip. With this in mind, carpeting is perhaps the best non-slip flooring, or rugs that have a non-slip layer underneath.
Another solution is to get a non-slip coating spray for pets that can be applied across smooth floors. This gives added traction to limit collisions and random skittering from your dog or cat. However, do follow manufacturer’s instructions for the coating spray as well as the flooring type to ensure there’s no damage to surfaces.
