DIY Manhole cover replacement
An apparently well-made product. However, the dimensions and underside did not correspond to the cover it was replacing. This meant a great deal of realignment work to be carried out. Not the "fault" of the cover, as there is not, apparently, a more suitable cover on the market

Had to use a angle grinder to cut into brickwork so that the cover would fit, but overwise no problem

Beware of fins
Tried to buy this from Farnham and they tried to give me a cheaper one saving it was the same...turns out it was not in stock so needed to buy from Alton. To fit it I needed to use an angle grinder to remove the fins on the corners to make it fit

Reinforcement is quite deep - read on
feels sturdy and feels more robust then it looks when you pick it up. The frame is plastic - will that last?, It's for a household driveway so should not need to withstand 25 tons, but I wanted the strongest most rigid one as on the lower rating ones people say they flex when you drive over them. But beware, the reinforcement fins on the bottom are a cross shape from corner to corner and go down a few inches on the underside. I need to cut away a bit of the reinforcement fins near the corners as the brickwork below is in the way. If I knew this I still would have bought but A picture of the underneath would have been good so I would have been prepared in advance

Strong cover at a good price
Good sturdy cover with stiffeners under the cover to achieve the rating.Would be better with a more robust frame.

Does the job (apparently)
Firstly, why use the American date format? This is England! Rather too early fully to evaluate the cover, as it only came into use yesterday, understanding that it has had to bed in with a mortar base. Have given four stars rather than five for that reason. However, seems to fulfil the job completely.
Hope the weather is fine in America.
