Thought I would read the manual as advertised on the product packaging.
The product page says nothing available.
Pretty poor really and amateurish.
No sale.

The illusive manual
the page says manual available on this site, but boy did it take some finding.

Not used yet but looks sturdy enough
someone had pointed out that arm goes past 0deg, so look out for that and fix at 0 for a right angle (this may be by design for subtle adjustments)

Love this Square
I have had one of these in my tool box for the last 30 years, finally had to replace it (someone borrowed and broke it.) My previous one wasn't painted, so this with the black and yellow is an improvement on the original. It has u.s. or standard measure on it, so no cm/mm.

Great Tool for Framing Carpenters, but not for me
I got this for Xmas and am impressed with its sturdy construction & functional appearance. Then, not being a framing carpenter, I started wondering what the cryptic markings such as "COM/JACK" and "HIP/VAL" meant (I figured the latter ones out).
THEN I started wondering how you use it and what it was designed for, besides use as a speed square or a protractor. Surprisingly, the packaging said NOTHING about it, but did mention a manual on the stanleytools.com website.
Though there was no mention of the manual on the webpage for the square, I went poking around and finally looked at the FAQs, where I...
FOUND THE MANUAL AT:

It seems like a really obscure place for it, and I would think it common sense to put a link to it right on the product page.
I suggest you tell your web creator to add that link, and check your other products for the same.

Excellent time saver
Excellent time saving multi-tool. No need for 2 sliding bevels as was the case before I first purchased one of these. Just bought a new one as my old one was showing signs of wear & tear after 20 years of hard labour.
Simply set the pitch and get the seat cut and plumb cut bevel on one tool. Once the pitch is set easily read off the figure on com/jack scale and transfer to the hip/val scale to get the pitch of hip rafter. The figures on the com/jack and hip/val scales are a little confusing if you're not acquainted with the old skool feet & inches. These figures show the rise in inches per foot of run.
Simple to use tool that I could not now cope without. No need for a protractor to set any bevel. Can also be used as a power saw guide when clamped to the work piece.
Top tool, job done!!!

Oh dear!
I bought this to make life easier and it doesn't.
It states clearly that a manual is available online, which it isn't.
It's an American tool (imperial measurements only are the big clue) whose use is probably covered in American Carpentry classes BUT it is not a basic tool in the UK.
After over half a Century using Carpentry tools I have no Idea how most of the markings work and neither does a friend who is a technician/lecturer in Carpentry at a local college.
It is a sliding bevel that probably will be a bit more robust than a normal one and the degree markings will be helpful, BUT with a basic guide, let alone a manual, it could be a real keeper.

Yes it's a great Square.
Yes it's a great Square. The only thing it's not right is when you take the screw to the bottom edge it is not 90°. I think Stanley should do something about that.

Quicksquare
It states that a full version of the manual is available on the website. If it is it is very well hidden. There is no explanation of what the numbers on the Com/Jack and Hip/Val scales relate to. They are clearly not degrees. Handy tool. Would be handier if I could work it out
